20 Years of Out-of-School Time Advocacy
1987 - 2007
Twenty Years and Going Strong! Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate twenty years of active service for Boston’s families and youth. Over 160 old and new friends of BOSTnet gathered on Wednesday, October 24, 2007, on the beautiful 36th floor of the State Street Financial Center. The only thing better than the view was the company of so many inspiring people who helped us honor the contributions of six individuals who have worked hard to make Boston a better place for children and youth. Their awards, paintings created by young artists from Artists for Humanity, highlighted one of the many innovative programs BOSTnet works with that provides diverse and creative opportunities to the City’s children and youth.
Our 20th Anniversary Honorees:
Mayor Thomas M. Menino
Elaine Fersh – Community Matters and BOSTnet’s founder
Chris Gabrieli – Massachusetts 2020

Build the Out-of-School Time Network (BOSTnet) continues to serve as a tireless advocate to improve the quality and abundance of child-care and after-school options in Massachusetts’ for low-income families. BOSTnet is the lead organization in supporting before and after-school professionals to provide the best quality programs and activities to stimulate children’s learning and to keep our youth safe during out-of-school time hours. BOSTnet has organized these valuable workers year after year and elevated their issues and voices to be heard on Beacon Hill.
