BOSTnet Initiatives

Leadership Roundtables
Networking and professional development events that build a strong workforce and improve the quality of service for children and youth. Events include peer networking, EEC approved professional development, and fun and engaging activities that stimulate ideas and solutions. These events have been on going for over twelve years in Boston and now are available across the state.

Conferences and Forums

BOSTnet has a history of convening forums on topics such as Family Engagement, Quality Environments for Youth, Inclusion on Youth with Disabilities, STEM, Literacy and more.

Training
BOSTnet provides support to selected programs on key topics such as Inclusion of Youth with Disabilities, Positive Behavior, Family Engagement, Building a Quality Environment for Youth, QRIS, STEM, Literacy and more. We strive to enhance the quality of the out of school time field using research based tools and strategies. BOSTnet works towards enriching the educational experience for out-of-school time professionals and creates meaningful change in the communities we serve. BOSTnet has been a leader in training and capacity building for Out-of-School Time for twenty-five years. Our talented and engaging training staff and research based strategies are renowned for providing fun, useful, and engaging training on a wide array of topics based on the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.

Summer Literacy Collaborative
Through our Summer Literacy Collaborative, BOSTnet hires public school teachers to serve as coaches in OST programs in low-income communities, building sustainable literacy learning supports and reversing summer learning loss, while simultaneously teaching OST staff the necessary skills and expertise to be effective teachers in the OST environment.  The program supports education as well as broader social and emotional development goals, strengthens family literacy through our foundational family engagement work, and builds strong connections between schools and OST programs.  We are currently operating this initiative in Lynn, Lowell, Lawrence, and Boston.  Our results so far are tremendously exciting: 85% of children in our partner programs avoided the typical summer learning loss!
